Valerie Johnson, PT, DPT, founded Dallas/ Fort Worth Balance Therapy to specialize in treating dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and Parkinson's disease. Dr. Johnson serves as a community resource and advocate for these individuals so that they may enjoy a better life.
Individuals with Parkinson's disease often suffer from imbalance, falls, and many other unpleasant symptoms. Dr. Valerie Johnson’s approach to working with Parkinson’s disease is driven by research and enthusiasm for those who want to improve their condition. At Balance Therapy, we strive to get you functioning at your highest level of fitness, activity, and health. More and more research shows that exercise is important slowing the progression and decreasing the symptoms of Parkinson’s. Valerie offers fitness classes for PD including dance, high intensity interval training, pole walking, and Parkinson's Wellness Recovey Moves! (PWR!Moves). Based on your examination and history, Valerie prescribes an exercise program specific to your symptoms. Physical therapy for Parkinson's targets stiffness, freezing, small movements, slowness, impaired posture, weakness, imbalance, falls, and difficulty walking. Additionally, Valerie has expertise in balance therapy for vertigo, dizziness, and falling. Valerie collaborates with health professionals to help you stay active and healthy. She also offers Parkinson's exercise classes to help you maintain the gains you achieve with physical therapy.
Valerie Johnson has a doctorate in physical therapy as well as special training and experience in physical therapy for vertigo, imbalance, and rehab for Parkinson's disease, enabling her to differentially evaluate and treat underlying causes of these conditions. Balance Therapy welcomes and appreciates collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, clinicians, and audiologists to ensure the best course of treatment for individuals.
